Biographical information, newspaper clippings and magazine articles, speech materials and correspondence files (1970-1988), minutes, reports, and related materials concerning Sedgwick's activities in various legal and community organizations (1978-1988), and her legal opinion files as a Minnesota Court of Appeals judge (1983-1988). Sedgwick also served as assistant Hennepin County attorney (1968-1970), judge of the Hennepin County District Court, Family Division (1974-1977), and judge of the Hennepin County District Court (1977-1983).
The papers reveal Sedgwick's activities in a number of legal organizations, detailing her interest in the Minnesota Supreme Court legal education program, women in the legal profession, and family law. A major portion of the collection documents her legal opinions while on the Minnesota Court of Appeals. The correspondence files (1970-1988) contain many congratulatory messages and letters reflecting her many interests in the legal profession. Also found in the collection are appointment books and calendars (1970 and 1983-1987), and several photographs and audio tapes (1974-1983).
