In 2017, the Minnesota Supreme Court Historical Society's Preservation Committee began work on an oral history project to document the early years of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Among the interviewees are four of the original 12 judges and the rest represent later years on the court. In addition to the judges interviewed for this project, below are included oral histories of Court of Appeals judges who also went on to the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice Peter Popovich was the first Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and is the only person who has held both Chief positions in the state of Minnesota.
Judge Harriet Lansing was sworn in as part of the first group of Court of Appeals Judges on November 1, 1983.
Judge Doris Huspeni was in the second group of judges sworn in on April 3, 1984.
Judge Gary Crippen was part of the second group of judges sworn in on April 3, 1984.
Judge Thomas Kalitowski was on the Court of Appeals from 1987-2014.
Judge Marianne Short was on the Court of Appeals from 1988-2000.
Sandra Gardebring was on the Court of Appeals for three years, from 1989-1991 before being appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Judge Randy Peterson was on the Court of Appeals from 1990-2018.
Justice Sam Hanson was on the Court of Appeals from 2000-2002.
