History of the Minnesota Judicial Center

The appropriation was initially for the Historical Society, the Supreme Court and the State Library.

This amount includes funding for a study of program needs and site selection for the judicial branch within the Capitol area complex.

...for preliminary planning and design competition for a judicial building that will utilize the existing historical society building and the site currently
occupied by the mechanic arts high school gymnasium.

...to prepare working drawings and prepare the site for a judicial building that will utilize the existing historical society building and the site currently
occupied by the mechanic arts high school gymnasium.

...to complete working drawings and construct a judicial building.

The society may cooperate with the supreme court to ensure that the marble fountain which occupied space in the former mechanic arts high school building is installed in the judicial building, using funds included in the supreme court appropriation for this purpose.

The cost of moving and installing in the judicial building the marble fountain which was previously located in the former Mechanic Arts high school building is included in any appropriation for moving expenses of the court.

Phase II. To renovate the old Historical Society Building to meet the program needs of the new Judicial Center.

Phase IIb. To complete the renovation of the old historical society building to meet the facility and program needs of the new judicial center.
