Design Competition

State law 15B.10 requires a design competition for any new buildings built in the capitol area. The Judicial Building Competition was announced in August of 1984 in architectural magazines and the State Register. The design required use of the existing Historical Society Building and it needed to have room for all the parts of the court, including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, State Court Administration, State Law Library and other related offices. The Competition Jury met in March 1985 and chose Leonard Parker Associates' entry as the winner.
