The Special Collections Room is used to preserve unique, rare, and old library materials. The majority of the books are older than 1920, however, newer books of note are also part of the collection.
The Collections included are historic legal briefs, Minnesota law, court history, Minnesota Justices, and old books on many legal topics.
The room has its own air circulation, humidification, and fire suppression systems. This keeps the room at a colder temperature than the rest of the building and at a stable humidity level. The fire suppression system is gas-based and won't damage the materials if it is deployed.
